NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Rhenzo Augusto, a freshman on the Elmhurst University men's wrestling team, earned CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. The honor is the freshman's second of the season.

Augusto won the 157-pound bracket at the 42nd annual Al Hanke Invitational, hosted by EU last Saturday (Jan. 18). After earning a bye in the first round, Augusto dominated his way through round two and the quarterfinals with technical fall wins over Jasie Salin (Triton) and Cole Joseph (Chicago). In the semifinal, Augusto earned a major decision win over Michael Smith of MSOE, and finally earned an 8-3 decision over 11th-ranked Jermaine Butler of UW-Whitewater to claim the championship. For his efforts, Augusto was also voted the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament by head coaches of participating schools.

To add to his efforts, Augusto also claimed a CCIW victory over Nolan Flores of North Central in the Bluejays' matchup with the Cardinals on January 16.

Augusto and the Bluejays wrap up regular season conference action this Saturday, Jan. 25, at the CCIW Duals hosted by Carthage in Kenosha, Wis. There, the Jays will battle Aurora, Illinois Wesleyan, and MSOE in duals.
