Bluejays Back at IWU I-55 Tri

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's track and field team delivered an impressive performance at the I-55 Invitational hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday (Jan. 18). The team had one top finish and many top 10 finishes. 

Rickey Martinez would be the soul winner for the Bluejays in the Triple Jump as he would finish with a mark of 13.30m. Three other teammates would would finish in the top 10 with Christan Doyle would place 3rd with a mark of 13.23m, Hemory Phifer would end in 5th with a mark of 12.84m and Braxton Mitchell would place 6th with a mark of 12.74m, all three of which also set new PR's. 

In Pole Vault, Logan Turney would finish in 2nd with a mark of 4.60m while also tying the Elmhurst University Men's Indoor Pole Vaultign record.

In the 200m, Christian Doyle was able to finish in 3rd with a time of 22.87 also making that a new personal record (PR) while Gino Orestano was also able to record a new PR as well (25.84). In the 400m, Chris Marroquin was able to finish 10th while being able to set a new PR in his sophomore campaign (54.63). In the Mile, Preston Bailey was able to finish 10th with a time of 4:50.64, while Brandon Pounders would set his own new PR with a  time of 4:53.65. The 4 x 400 Relay team would finish 7th with a time of 3:42.90 and members including Joey Schied, Chris Marroquin, Shawn Woodall, and Adrian Campos. Lastly, in the 1200m the Chris Marroquin placed 6th with a 3:31.48.

Onto Jumps, in the High Jump, Hemory Phifer would place 4th while setting a new PR of 1.8m, teammate and fellow freshman TJ Ellison would place right behind him in 5th with a mark of 1.8m as well, Jeffery Leighliter would place 10th with a mark of 1.7m, while Jaedon Thompson would set a new PR with a mark of 1.65m. Following into the Long Jump Pierce Reinhard with a mark of 6.42m. 

Jaedon Thompson would set a new PR in the Shot Put event with a 9.92m mark
