ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's wrestling team hosted the 42nd-annual Al Hanke Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 18), placing sixth as a team and having six individuals earn placements in their weight classes.

Rhenzo Augusto was the highlight of the day, dominating the 157-pound weight class to claim first place. After a bye in the first round, Augusto scored two tech falls over Jase Salin (19-4) and Cole Joseph (20-3). In the semifinal, he secured a major decision over Michael Smith (8-0) and capped his run with a decisive 8-3 victory over Jermaine Butler in the final. His effort also earned him the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the meet award.

David Ortiz delivered a strong performance in the heavyweight division, securing third place. He fought hard through each round, including a 3-2 decision over Aidan Trujillo and a 10-3 quarterfinal win over Edward Perry. Although he fell to Michael D'Orazio in the semis, Ortiz rebounded with a 4-1 win over Isaiah Gonzalez in the third-place match.

At 165 pounds, Nicholas Asllani claimed fifth place, where he recorded tech falls over Roland Anderson (21-5) and Jack Barracca (19-4) and a major decision over Bransen Byrd (12-4).

Mataeo Blessing also shined at 165 pounds, finishing fourth after a strong tournament run that included a quarterfinal decision over Gage Decker (7-3) and a tech fall over Giovanni Diaz (20-3), falling short in the semifinal and third-place match.

Several wrestlers displayed determination despite tough draws. Diego Garcia (149) placed eighth, while Donovin Fields (125) finished fifth. Connor Kelly (184) battled his way to fourth place, including a quick pin against Jon Schmidt.
