GENEVA, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's cross country team opened the 2024 season with a second-place finish at the Aurora Spartan Invitational at Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course.

Elmhurst had all of their point-scorers finish within the top-15 of the women's 6k individually, as the team had 53 points to finish behind the host Spartans with 29 points. Overall, the Jays had 11 of their 13 runners finish in the top-30 of the 61-athlete field.

Riley Wieringa led the Bluejays with a seventh-place finish, running a time of 26:00.20, while teammate Jessica Solar finish closely behind in eighth at 26:13.70. Paige Rewerts placed 11th with a 26:33.90, while freshman Keagan Burke made her Elmhurst debut with a 13th-place finish, establishing a collegiate-best time of 26:42.90. Alexis Rivas wrapped up the team scores for Elmhurst, finishing in 14th with a 26:43.40.

Other Jays to finish in the top-30 of the event include Meredith Mounier (15th), Molly Glover (17th), Tala Yacoub (18th), Elizabeth Jones (20th), Alyssa Roelli (22nd), and Julietta Contreras, who placed 30th with a personal-best time of 28:18.20. Annie Hathaway (35th) and Lauren Snelgrove (37th) wrapped up the Bluejay runners at the season-opening event.

The Bluejays are back in action next Saturday, September 21, at the Gil Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton in Warrenville, Ill.
