ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's and women's track and field teams sent a select few student-athletes across Wisconsin this past weekend, with the Bluejays competing at the Firebird Finale on Friday, Mar. 1 and the UW-La Crosse Qualifier on Saturday, Mar. 2.

The Bluejays began the weekend with a trip to Kenosha, Wis. where
Ashley Kachurik and
James Palumbo competed in the mile run, also the final races of their collegiate careers. Kachurik took the title with a time of 5:09.89, while Palumbo placed tenth with a 4:40.94 mark.
UW-LA CROSSE QUALIFIER | MAR. 2
The Bluejays traveled four individuals and one relay team to La Crosse, Wis. for the final event before next weekend's NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
The women's 4x400 Relay team was the highlight of the weekend for the Bluejays, as the team of
Sadie Hartmann,
Naomi Jones,
Nayeli Villegas, and
Carmela Woods set a new indoor school record with a time of 3:56.84, placing fifth in the event at the UW-La Crosse Qualifier.
In the 60m,
Lauren Marshall placed eighth with a time of 7.93 in the finals after putting up a time of 7.90 in the preliminary race.
Tiana Grady placed sixth in the 200m with a time of 25.64, and also put a time of 8.89 on the board for a fifth-place finish in the 60m-Hurdles. Fellow teammate
Nakala Nadeau placed second in the 60-hurdles with a time of 8.74 in the finals.
UP NEXT
The Bluejays will turn their attention to the 2024 NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships, set to take place next Friday and Saturday, Mar. 8-9, in Virginia Beach, Va.
Selections are set to be announced in the evening on Sunday, Mar. 3 via a press release on NCAA.com.
