NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's track and field team wrapped up competition on the opening day of the 2024 CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Al B. Carius Track at North Central College.
The Bluejays finish day one in sixth place, totaling eight team points. Elmhurst found points in two events thanks to all-CCIW performances in the distance medley relay and the pole vault.
Logan Turney earned all-CCIW accolades thanks to a fifth-place finish in the pole vault. The sophomore cleared 4.55m to earn the Bluejays four team points.
In the distance medley relay, the team of
James Palumbo,
Zaiden Smith,
Marvin Tchangwa, and
Joey Barber finished in fifth-place with a time of 10:38.97, earning Elmhurst four team points.
In the 60m Hurdles, junior
Eric Jandura advanced to Saturday's final with a qualifying time of 8.91, a new personal best.
The trio of
Jaedon Thompson,
Jeffrey Leighliter, and
Michael Colant all qualified for the 60m first round races, with Leighliter running a personal-best 7.27, but all three failed to advance to tomorrow's final after falling below the cut line in the first round race, while Nicholas Williams ran a personal-best 16:07.15 to place 18th in the 5000m.

Elmhurst will be back in Naperville tomorrow, Fegb 24, for day two of the 2024 CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championships beginning at 11:00 a.m.
