TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Elmhurst University women's cross country team competed at the NCAA Pre-Nationals meet Friday evening under the lights on the course where this year's NCAA Championship will be held.
Elmhurst competed across two races on the evening, a 6000m open and 6000m championship race. In the open race, the Bluejays put forth a team score of 234 to place eighth out of 16 teams, and placed 27th in the championship race out of a loaded 44-team field.
In the open,
Keagan Burke led the Jays with a time of 25:44.27 and a 48th-place finish, establishing a new college-best for the freshman. Teammates
Meredith Mounier and
Molly Glover finish closely behind Burke with times of 25:51.55 and 25:52.89 in 51st and 52nd, with Mounier setting a new personal-best in the process. Other Bluejays to set new PR's in the 6k open were
Alyssa Roelli (26:37.9) and
Julietta Contreras (26:45.6).
In the championship race, the Bluejays finished behind just one CCIW squad (Illinois Wesleyan, 19th), and finished just ahead of conference foe Augustana in 29th for a 27th-place finish in the field of ranked teams. Elmhurst's top finisher was
Ashley Kachurik, running a 23:22.42 for 109th-place. Bluejays to set new personal-bests in the race were
Molly Roberts (23:36.57),
Sabrina Kadow (24:27.2),
Jessica Solar (24:42.1),
Tala Yacoub (24:53.4), and
Alexis Rivas (25:38.5).
