Elmhurst Track and Field Teams Compete at CCIW Outdoor Championships

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Elmhurst University track and field teams competed at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Championships at Carroll University this past weekend.

The women earned a second-place finish with 116 points, while the men finished in ninth-place with 29.5 points.

On the women's side, Ava David placed second in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash with times of 12.14 seconds and 24.93 seconds respectively.

Huda Hussaini clocked in a 12.15 second time in the 100-meter dash and a 25.17 in the 200-meter dash for third-place finishes in both events.

Lauren Marshall also scored in the 100-meters for the Bluejays with a 12.58 second time for a seventh-place finish.

Naomi Jones checked into the third spot in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.96 seconds, while Nakala Nadeau earned a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.63 seconds.

Alyssa Rafuse captured the conference titles in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.14 and in the 1,500-meter run with a 4:36.43. Venezia Munoz finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.49, while Esther Brown checked into the fourth spot in the 1,500-meter run with a 4:52.22.

Brown also placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:40.74. The 4x100 relay team featuring, Hannah Schwarz, David, Hussaini and Marshall, raced into second-place with a time of 47.48 seconds.

The 4x400 relay team of Sadie Hartmann, Lauren Mack, Jones and Munoz finished fifth in the event with a time of 4:06.18.

Angelina Camaci and Vashayla Bradley cleared heights of 1.53 meters and 1.50 meters respectively in the high jump to earn third and eighth-place honors.

Kate Weber and Kelsey Becker cleared 3.20 meters and 3.05 meters in the pole vault to place seventh and eighth in the event.

Marshall jumped into third-place in the long jump with a distance of 5.40 meters. Vanessa Carr finished with a distance of 5.28 meters in the same event to earn the sixth spot, while Francesca Scarabaggio earned a seventh-place finish with a distance of 5.24 meters.

Carr also earned a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 10.86 meters. Caroline Slater placed seventh in the heptathlon as well for the Bluejays.

On the men's side, Rickey Martinez finished eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 20.05 seconds.

Marvin Tchangwa raced into fourth-place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.66, while Dylan Moran checked into the sixth spot in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 31:58.13.

Eric Jandura earned a sixth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.00 seconds, while teammate Andrew Wieser placed seventh in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.26 seconds.

Brett von Schwedler earned five points for the Bluejays with a fourth-place finish in the javelin throw with a distance of 45.61 meters. He also jumped 12.33 meters in the triple jump for a seventh-place finish and cleared a height of 1.86 meters in the high jump to also finish in seventh-place.

Patrick Campbell jumped 12.24 meters in the triple jump to place eighth in the event, while Martinez checked into the fifth spot in the long jump with a distance of 6.71 meters.

The 4x100 relay featuring Julian Cavallo, Michael Colant, Luca Ferrantelli and Jandura placed eighth in the event with time of 44.17 seconds.

Logan Turney added in 1.5 points to the Bluejays team score with a seventh-place finish in the pole vault with a cleared height of 4.33 meters.

The Bluejay track and field teams head to North Central College for the Last Chance Meet on Friday, May 12.
