MEQUON, Wis.- The Elmhurst University wrestling team went a perfect 2-0 at the CCIW Duals hosted by Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday afternoon. 

Elmhurst defeated both Aurora University (25-23) and Milwaukee School of Engineering (33-17) on the day, improving to 5-6 overall and 3-5 in CCIW dual matchups.

A trio of Bluejays were 2-0 on the day, with Justin Hames, Jeff Nugent, and Roberto Pena all earning victories to help propel Elmhurst. Colin O'Neill, Troy Mock, and Dominic Iannatone also earned match victories for the Bluejays.

In the first match of the day against the Spartans, Elmhurst fell into a 3-14 hole four matches in before Nugent won via major decision to move the score to 13-14 with four matches to go. After a forefit at 197 tightened the deficit to four, Pena came through in the clutch for the Bluejays with a second period fall to steal the dual meet 25-23 in favor of Elmhurst.

It was all Elmhurst in the second and final dual meet of the day, jumping out to an 18-0 advantage thanks to a trio of foretitures from MSOE. Mock's 9-7 decision victory moved the score to 21-0 before the Raiders earned a technical fall match win to put their first points on the board. A 58 second fall from Nugent extended the lead to 22 before the Bluejays dropped two matches to bring the score to 27-17. O'Neill and Pena finished the meet with a pair of victories via decision to seal the 33-17 conference win.
