BOSTON, Mass. – The Elmhurst University men's and women's track and field teams traveled to the east coast with a small group of athletes to compete in the Suffolk Ice Breaker at the Track at New Balance.
The Bluejays on the women's side had a strong showing in all events.
Nakala Nadeau earned a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.20 seconds.
Alyssa Rafuse finished in sixth-place in the mile with a lifetime PR of 5:13.47.
Ava David earned a top three finish in the 200 meters with a 25.98, while teammate
Huda Hussaini checked into the seventh spot in the same race with a 26.80. David also posted a time of 59.53 seconds to secure a fifth-place in the 400 meters and Hussaini clocked in with a time of 8.12 seconds in the 60 meters to finish in sixth-place.
On the men's side,
Braxston Redmond finished in fifth-place with a time of 50.14 seconds in the 400 meters. Rickey Martinez posted a personal best in the triple jump with a distance of 13.27 meters to earn a second-place finish. Martinez also added in a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.08 meters.
The men's and women's teams compete once more in Boston at the UMass Winter Opener at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15 before returning to campus.
