2021 Elmhurst Track - USTFCCCA Academic Honors

Track & Field Teams Honored by USTFCCCA

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's and women's track and field teams both earned All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). In addition to the team accolades, seven members of the women's track and field team earned individual All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA. 

On the men's side, the Bluejays' posted a 3.14 grade-point average for the 2021-22 academic year to earn the USTFCCCA All-Academic Award. The Elmhurst women's team posted a team gpa of 3.59 to earn the honor for the fourth consecutive year. 

Seven members of the women's squad earned individual Academic honors as well. Ava David, Emily Gilligan, Natalia Hernandez, Huda Hussaini, Amanda Lams, Hanna Matuszewski and Nakala Nadeau all took home individual Academic honors. In order to qualify for the award, student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale while also finishing the indoor track and field season among the top 50 individuals listed in their respective event.The individual academic honor was the second consecutive honor for Hussaini, Lams and Gilligan. 

David ranked 23rd in the nation in the 100 meters and 24th in the 200 meters. Hussaini, David and Matuszewski were members of the Bluejays' 4x100 relay team that qualified for the NCAA Championships and ranked 27th in the nation this season. 

Gilligan and Hernandez were both nationally ranked in the steeplechase. Gilligan ran the 13th fastest time this season and qualified for the NCAA Championships. Hernandez's time ranked 42nd in the steeplechase. Lams ranked 26th in the nation in the triple jump to earn her second straight individual academic honor. Nadeau earned the first USTFCCCA academic honor of her career by ranking 27th in the 100 hurdles.
