Men's Track Places Sixth at Wheaton Invite

WHEATON, Ill. – The Elmhurst University men's track and field team totaled 61 points to place sixth out of 10 teams at Wheaton College's Don Church Twilight Invitational.
 
Braxston Redmond continued his impressive showings in the 400 meters. Redmond was the top-scorer for the Bluejays by winning the 400 in 49.20 seconds.
 
The Bluejays had a strong showing in the long jump and triple jump. Jeremy Inniss placed third in the long jump with a distance of 6.59 meters. Rickey Martinez added a sixth-place finish with a mark of 6.27 meters and Uzair Ali finished 12th with a distance of 6.00 meters. In the triple jump, Ali finished second with a mark of 12.58 meters. Martinez placed fourth (12.28 meters) and Inniss finished fifth (11.968 meters). Brett von Schwedler added a sixth-place finish with a distance of 11.52 meters. Elmhurst totaled 20 points in the triple jump.
 
James Palumbo added a team point for Elmhurst in the 800 meters, placing eighth in 2:00.33. Marvin Tchangwa finished 11th in the 800 in a time of 2:01.06. Dylan Moran scored four team points in the 5,000 meters, placing fifth in 15:34.42.
 
The Bluejays' 4x400 squad of Andrew Matuszewski, Jeff Milostan, Tchangwa and Redmond placed fourth in 3:24.51 to score five team points.
 
Logan Techentin and von Schwedler added 12 team points in the javelin. Techentin placed second with a toss of 48.29 meters on his second-to-last attempt. Von Schwedler placed fifth, recording a throw of 42.24 meters on his fifth attempt.
 
Several other Bluejays added top-15 finishes. Nick Williams narrowly missed team points in the 1,500 meters, placing ninth in 4:17.56. Luca Ferrantelli added a top-15 finish in the 200 meters, crossing the finish line in 23.01 seconds. George Willer (10:16.73) and Hayden Szaltis (10:20.90) placed 13th and 14th, respectively, in the 3,000 meters. TJ McNamara finished 10th (18.51 seconds) and Ian Loudermilk placed 14th (23.16 seconds in the 110 hurdles). Andrew Weiser (10th in 1:01.62), Andrew Matuszewski (11th in 1:02.39) and Adrian Campos (14th in 1:04.04) all scored top-15 finishes in the 400 hurdles. Von Schwedler added a 10th-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.72 meters.
