Bluejays Finish Seventh at CCIW Championships

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Elmhurst University men's track and field team totaled 32.5 points to place seventh at the 2022 CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships. A total of nine different Bluejays earned all-conference honors with Braxston Redmond winning the individual conference title in the 400 meters.
 
On Saturday, Redmond earned the first conference title of his career by winning the CCIW Championship in the 400 meters. Redmond broke the fins line in 50.01, a half-second in front of Ian Rothery of Augustana. Redmond's time was a new school record, surpassing the previous mark of 50.32 set in 2000.

Elmhurst opened the two-day event with a pair of all-conference performances on Friday night. Matt Tobin earned the fourth all-conference honor of his career by placing seventh in the pole vault. Tobin cleared a height of 3.96 meters to score 1.5 team points. Uzair Ali earned all-conference accolades in the long jump, placing seventh with a leap of 6.46 meters.
 
Marvin Thcangwa earned all-conference honors with an eighth-place finish in the 800 meters. Tchangwa finished the race in 1:58.02.
 
Ian Loudermilk earned all-CCIW honors in the heptathlon, placing fourth with 3,598 points. Loudermilk had the fastest time in the 55 meters (6.82 seconds).
 
Ricky Martinez and Brett von Schwedler both earned all-conference honors in the triple jump. Martinez recorded a jump of 12.65 meters on his third attempt to place fifth. Von Schwedler placed eight with a mark of 12.44 meters on his second attempt.


The Bluejays' 4x400 relay team of Redmond, Tchangwa, Jeff Milostan and James Palumbo earned all-conference honors with a third-place finish in 3:31.83.

The Bluejays' distance medley relay team of James Palumbo, Jeff Milostan, Marvin Tchangwa and Nick Williams took home sixth place, scoring three team points with a time of 10:47.47.
