David Stone Named Associate Head Track & Field Coach

10/14/2022 12:26:00 PM

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst University Director of Cross Country & Track and Field Jordan Bartolazzi has announced the promotion of David Stone to Associate Head Track & Field Coach.

"Naming Dave the Associate Head Track & Field Coach for our program is one of the easiest decisions I've made in my time at Elmhurst. In so many ways, this new title reflects the work Dave has already been doing for the last four years as an invaluable member of our staff," said Bartolazzi. "It's no coincidence that Dave's arrival at Elmhurst coincides with the greatest years in our women's program history for sprinting and jumping. During his tenure, the sprints/jumps/hurdles group has established eleven new school records, produced seven individual CCIW championships, and qualified more athletes to the NCAA championship than ever before. We're witnessing similar growth right now to our men's program and I'm confident that Dave's leadership will continue to propel both teams into a successful future. While Dave's ability to develop athletes and get the very best out of them at the most important times is obvious given his track record, it's his deep care for the success of student-athletes that makes him such a good fit for our program. He's passionate about the people he works with, and I'm confident that he values the health and wellbeing of his athletes above their performance. The combination of Dave's great coaching abilities with his deep care and compassion for our student-athletes is invaluable to me and to our team."

Stone is entering his fifth season at Elmhurst where he works primarily with the jumpers. Last year he helped Ava David earn All-America honors in the indoor 200 meters.

"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve Elmhurst Track and Field as the Associate Head Coach," said Stone. "Being a part of this team's journey over the last 5 years has been a blessing and I am excited to be able to continue working with these athletes and this department. My time working with Jordan has given me some of my best track and field memories, and I'm honored to be able to step up and help my colleague and friend in a more substantive role."

Stone graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa where he was a mid-distance/cross country runner. He later earned his Masters in physiology from Benedictine University.

Stone resides in Batavia with his wife Shannon, and his daughter Lyla.
