ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Six members of the Elmhurst University men's track and field team earned all-conference accolades at the 2021 CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Elmhurst totaled 20 points as a team, good for eighth-place in the final standings.

Elmhurst totaled nine points in the javelin throw with
Logan Techentin and Brett von Schwedler finishing fourth and fifth, respectively with both throwers earning all-conference honors. Techentin recorded a throw of 47.72 on his third toss of the day, breaking his previous best by over three meters. A throw of 47.52 meters on his second to last heave of the day, gave von Schwedler fifth place and bettered his previous personal best by nearly eight meters.

Luca Ferrantelli earned all-conference honors in the 100 meters. Ferrantelli completed the sprint in 11.28 seconds, good for seventh-place overall. The 11.28 seconds is a season-best performance for Ferrentelli. He added a 15th-place finish in the 200 meters (23.24 seconds) as well. (2)

James Palumbo recorded the first all-conference honor of his career in the 1,500 meters. Palumbo broke the finish line with a season-best time of 4:04.15, securing sixth-place in the process (3).
Josphat Langat shaved 16 seconds off his previous best time in the 5,000 meters, completing the distance race in 15:31.05, taking home seventh-place and all-conference accolades in the process. (2)

Matt Tobin recorded his second consecutive all-conference honor in the outdoor pole vault. Tobin placed sixth overall after clearing a height of 4.15 meters, a career-best mark, on his second attempt. Tobin has earned all-conference honors in the pole vault four times (two indoor and two outdoor). Â (3)

Andrew Matuszewski,
Jamal Slaven, Palumbo and Andrew Weiser recorded a team point by placing eighth in 3:37.88. (1)
