ELMHURST, Ill. - Jimmy McAuliffe, a senior on the wrestling team, has been selected as Elmhurst University's Men's Sports Athlete of the Year award for the 2020-21 season.

The Athlete of the Year award is presented annually to one men's sports and women's sports student-athlete for their athletic accomplishments over the course of the year.

Despite the wrestling season getting cut short due to the pandemic, McAuliffe finished the year with a perfect 11-0 record on the mat. He captured the second CCIW Individual Championship of his career by winning the conference title at 141 pounds in February.

Facing the nation's top competitors at the National Wrestling Coaches Division III Championship, McAuliffe posted a perfect 5-0 record to win the national title at 141 pounds. He rallied from a 9-1 deficit in the semifinals with a third-period pin before defeating the top-ranked wrestler in the nation 5-3 in the championship match, picking up All-America honors in the process.

A senior from Burbank, Ill., McAuliffe is a two-time CCIW Champions and three-time All-American and owns a career record of 70-17.
