Men's Track Finishes Seventh at Wheaton Invite

WHEATON, Ill. – The Elmhurst University men's track and field team totaled 36 points to finish seventh at Wheaton College's Don Church Twilight Invitational.

Wheaton won the team title with 177.5 points while North Central finished second with 169.5 points.
 
Logan Techentin was the top individual finisher for the Bluejays, scoring a third-place finish in the javelin after recording a throw of 42.10 meters. Brett von Schwedler added a fifth-place finish in the javelin with a toss of 39.79 meters.
 
Andrew Matuszewski placed sixth in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line in 1:58.64. Josphat Langat added a fourth-place finish in the 3,000 meters, finishing the race in 8:53.77.
 
Luca Ferrantelli finished eighth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.34 seconds. Ferrantelli added a 10th-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 23.27 seconds. Raynel Mitchell placed ninth in 11.40 seconds. Andrew Wieser placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:00.97) and scored a 10th-place finish in the 110 hurdles, finishing the race in 18.41 seconds.
 
Jeremy Inniss and Stefan Postman finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the long jump. Inniss leaped to a distance of 5.93 meters while Postman jumped to a distance of 5.87 meters. Ethan Patterson placed 10th in the high jump after leaping to a distance of 1.72 meters. Matt Tobin finished 10th in the pole vault after clearing a height of 3.93 meters.
 
The Bluejays' 4x100 squad of Mitchell, Postman, Ferrantelli and Inniss finished fifth with a time of 43.69 seconds. The Bluejays 4x400 squad of Matuszewski, Wieser, James Palumbo and Jamal Slaven finished seventh in 3:39.16.

The Bluejays will compete at the CCIW Championships next Saturday, May 8.
