WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's track and field team totaled 20 points to place seventh at the Wheaton College Invitational.
Washington University in St. Louis finished first with 219 points while Wheaton placed second with 157 points.
Andrew Weiser totaled five team points in the 400 hurdles, placing fourth with a time of 1:02.47.
Elmhurst's 4x400 squad of
Andrew Matuszewski,
James Palumbo,
Jamal Slaven and Weiser added points with an eighth-place finish, completing the relay in 3:39.05.
Brett von Schwedler added three points with a sixth-place finish in the triple jump, recording a distance of 11.46 meters.
Ethan Patterson and
Thomas Schwartz added eight combined points in the javelin. Patterson finished fourth with a throw of 30.15 meters while Schwartz sixth with a distance of 26.04 meters.
Several other Bluejays scored top-15 finishes. Matuszewski placed 12th in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line in 2:02.72. Palumbo placed 11th in the 1,500 meters in 4:17.87.
Luca Ferrantelli placed 13th in the 100 meters with a time of 11.55 seconds. Von Schwedler (1.67 meters) and Patterson (1.62 meters), placed 10th and 11th in the high jump, respectively.
Stefan Postman finished 10th in the long jump, leaping to a distance of 5.70 meters. Chris Pederson placed 11th in the shot put, measuring a toss of 11.71 meters.
