Men's Track Team Has Strong Showing at Titan Triangualr

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Elmhurst men's track and field team continued its 2021 indoor season with 32 top-10 finishes in a strong showing at Illinois Wesleyan University's Titan Triangular.
 
While no team scores were kept at the event, the Bluejays had several standout performances. The Bluejays had strong showings in both the 60 meter dash and 200 meter dash. Luca Ferrantelli won the 200 meters in 23.85 seconds while placing second in the 60 meters in 7.31 seconds. Rayneal Mitchell added third-place finishes in both events, completing the 60 meters in 7.39 seconds and the 200 in 24.35 seconds. Stefan Postman added a fifth-place finish in the 60 meters (7.54 seconds) while Andrew Wieser (25.49 seconds) and Jeremy Inniss (25.61 seconds) finished the 200 meters in sixth and seventh place, respectively. Weiser added a third-place finish for Elmhurst in the 60-meter hurdles, completing the race in 10.69 seconds.
 
Andrew Matuszewski turned in a pair of strong races in the mid-distance events. Matuszewski won the 800 meters in 2:03.99 and placed second in the mile run in 438.30.  Jamal Slavin and Xavier Ahuad also added top-five finishes in the 800 meters. Slavin crossed the finish line in 2:10.39, good for third place while Ahuad finished fourth in 2:13.00.  Josphat Langat scored a fourth-place finish for Elmhurst in the 3,000 meters in 9:58.53.  
 
Matt Tobin took home a first-place finish in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.95 meters. Brett von Schwedler added a pair of top-five performances in the jumps, finishing third in the high jump with a mark of 1.63 meters and second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.55 meters. Three Bluejays scored top-seven finishes in the long jump as well. Inniss and Postman both recorded leaps of 6.15 meters to tie for third place. Logan Techentin finished seventh with a jump of 5.57 meters.
 
Chris Pedersen (12.35 meters) placed fourth in the shot put while teammate Thomas Schwartz finished sixth in the event with a toss of 9.47 meters.
 
Elmhurst will compete at North Central College on Friday, February 19.
