ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 shutout loss at the hands of Wheaton College at the Brune Tennis Courts.
Wheaton (9-7, 2-0 CCIW) swept all three doubles matches to start play. The Thunder's No. 1 team of Justin Ancona and Matt Steiner downed Elmhurst's top duo of
Kyle Endicott and
Jackson Lindquist 8-5. At No. 2, it was Dane Paulsen and Jeremiah Yi toppling the Bluejays' duo of
Brandon Fulmer and
Grant O'Connell 8-5. Josh Cheng and Andrew Bristol downed Elmhurst's
Kevin Osburn and
David Wilson 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.Â
In singles play, Ancona downed Endicott 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 while Paulson followed with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Fulmer at No. 2. Steiner toppled Lindquist 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 while Yi defeated Osburn 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4. Cheng scored a 6-1, 6-0 win over O'Connel at No. 5 while Andrew Torok closed singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Wilson.Â
Elmhurst (0-16, 0-4 CCIW) hosts Carthage College on April 20.Â
