Jays Drop Match at Carroll

RECAP

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Elmhurst University men's tennis team hit the road Monday afternoon for a matchup against Carroll University, falling 7-0 at the Kilgour-Trailblazer Courts in Waukesha.

Facing a strong Pioneers squad, the Bluejays showed determination and effort throughout the match. Elmhurst moved to 1-7 overall and continues to build valuable experience as it works toward future improvement in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW).

In doubles play, Ioannis Varsamis and Charalampos Vasilopoulos led the way for Elmhurst, picking up two games in a competitive 6-2 match at the No. 2 spot. The top duo of Russell Reyes and Emiliano Montenegro-Galarza, along with the No. 3 pairing of Caden Sultzbaugh and Roberto Koziol, both fought through tough matchups against Carroll's experienced doubles teams.

In singles action, Elmhurst battled hard across the board. Reyes and Montenegro-Galarza took the top two singles spots, facing off against Carroll's standout performers Daniel Ezcurra and Adrian Gomez. Sultzbaugh had Elmhurst's most competitive set of the afternoon at the No. 4 position, grabbing three games in the first set. Koziol and Vasilopoulos also showed resilience at the bottom of the lineup, gaining valuable court time against high-level opponents.
