ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team opened the CCIW portion of its schedule with a 9-0 road loss at Augustana.
Elmhurst fell to 0-13 overall and 0-1 in league play while Augustana upped its record to 6-7 overall and 1-0 in the CCIW.
Augustana's Samuel Totten and Eric Pohl downed Elmhurt's
Kyle Endicott and
Jackson Lindquist 8-6 at No. 1 doubles while Jack Morkin and Connor Woolf combined to defeat Elmhursts' tandem of
Brandon Fulmer and
Kevin Osburn 8-2 at No. 2. Jonathon Elsey and David Gunther defeated
Grant O'Connell and
David Wilson 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Totten clipped Endicott 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 while Pohl blanked Fulmer at No. 2 6-0, 6-0. Morkin stopped Lindquist 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles while Woolf upended Osburn 7-5, 6-2. Nicholas Prabhakar defeated O'Connel 6-1 7-6 at No. 5 while Alex Riddle closed singles play with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Wilson at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst hosts North Central College on April 4.
