ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team dropped its season-opening contest, falling 9-0 to Judson University at Courts Plus.
Judson (7-2) swept all three doubles matches before taking all six singles contests en route to the sweep.
Judson's duo of John Mitvick and Elisha Hougland topped Elmhurst's
Brandon Fulmer and
Jackson Lindquist 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Joshua Gronkowski and Carlos Callau topped Elmhurst's
Kyle Endicott and
Kevin Osburn at No. 2 doubles. Michael Bruen and Riley Rowan teamed to defeat Elmhurst's
David Wilson and
Grant O'Connell 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.Â
In singles play, Mitvick topped Endicott 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles while Hougland defeated Fulmer 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Bruen was up a set (7-5) at No. 3 singles before Lindquist retired. Callau stopped O'Connell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles while Gronkoski defeated Osburn 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. Riley Rowan closed out the dual with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Wilson at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst (0-1) hosts the University of Illinois-Chicago tomorrow, February 4.Â
