HANOVER PARK, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 shutout loss at the hands of Wabash College at Centre Court.
Wabash (6-5) swept the three doubles matches and all six singles matches while Elmhurst slipped to 0-7 on the season.
William Reifeis and Patrick McAuley teamed to defeat Elmhurst's
Kyle Endicott and
Kevin Osburn 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Michael Makio and Jordan Greenwell stopped the Bluejays' duo of
Brandon Fulmer and
Jackson Lindquist 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. Kirill Ivaschenko and Mazin Hakim toppled Elmhurst's
Grant O'Connell and
David Wilson 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Reifeis toppled Endicott 7-6, 6-2 at No. 1 singles while Makio downed Fulmer 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. At. No. 3, Greenwell upended Lindquist 6-3, 6-1 and McAuley followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Osburn at No. 4 singles. Nicholas Pollock defeated O'Connell at No. 5 singles. Pollock took the first set 6-3 and was up 5-0 in the second when O'Connell retired. Ivaschenko defeated Wilson 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst plays at Chicago State on March 3.
