JANESVILLE, Wis. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team slipped to 0-5 on the season after dropping a pair of contests.
Elmhurst suffered 9-0 shutout losses to Wisconsin-La Crosse and Wisconsin-Whitewater at Premier Tennis and Fitness in Janesville, Wis.
UW-La CROSSE 9, ELMHURST 0 - Elmhurst fell to 0-4 on the season after dropping all nine matches to Wisconsin-La Crosse. The Eagles swept the three doubles matches with Kyle Wogahn and Matt Riley defeating
Kyle Endicott and
Kevin Osburn 8-3 at No.1 doubles. Kyle McGrane and Matt Lindsay downed the Bluejays' duo of Brandon Fullmer and
Jackson Lindquist 8-5 at No. 2 doubles while Simon Brandt and Sam Gowan toppled Elmhurst's team of
Grant O'Connell and
David Wilson 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, McGrane downed Endicott 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles while Austin Stefanich dealt Fullmer a 6-3, 7-6 loss at No. 2. Matt Riley downed Lindquist 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles while Lindsay stopped Osburn 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4. Brant swept O'Connell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Riley Peterson downed Wilson 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
UW-WHITEWATER 9, ELMHURST 0 - The Bluejays suffered their fifth straight defeat, falling to UW-Whitewater 9-0. The Warhawks opened play by sweeping the three doubles matches. Grant Thompson and Jimmy Engelhart combined to stop Fulmer/Lindquist 8-1 at No. 1. Rory Calabria and Matt Zurowski downed Endicott and Osburn 8-2 at No. 2 doubles while Brett Conrad and Matthew Primozic stopped O'Connell/Wilson 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Engelhart defeated Endicott 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 while Zurowski upended Fulmer 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Zach Wood defeated Lindquist 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 while Lucas Monterroso stopped Osburn 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4. Primozic defeated O'Connell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles while Conrad defeated Wilson 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst closes out its weekend schedule by facing the College of Wooster tomorrow (February 12) at 8:30 a.m.
