Â
Augustana jumped out in front by winning an 8-3 decision at No. 3 doubles over Elmhurst's
Kyle Endicott and
Justin Delawder. At No. 1,
Chris Harrison and
Quinn Jennings battled back to 6-7, but Augustana's Eric Pohl gave the Vikings another point by serving out an 8-6 victory. In a match that was close throughout, No. 2 doubles fittingly went to a tiebreaker.
Alex Abbuhl and
Ricardo Franco won five of the final six points to give Elmhurst its first point 9-8(3). Abbuhl put an exclamation point on the win by ripping a forehand, down-the-line passing shot on match point.

The Vikings extended a 3-1 lead as Connor Woolf took out Franco 6-3, 6-0, but Jennings responded with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Patrick Lenz. Jennings is still undefeated at No. 2 singles in CCIW play (5-0) and is projected to face another CCIW unbeaten, Carthage's Ryan Jump, in the teams' final conference match.
Â
Augustana pushed to the brink with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 over Delawder before Elmhurst charged back. Endicott won in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 as the other two matches headed for third sets. Abbuhl made the match 4-4 with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 victory at No. 3, which left the No. 1 battle to decide the match. After losing a 7-5 first set, Harrison rebounded to take the second 6-3. Augustana's Pohl ended up taking the third set 6-3, clinching the Vikings victory.
