ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst men's tennis team rode singles victories from five seniors to a 6-3 win over Millikin.

Quinn Jennings,
Alex Abbuhl,
Ricardo Franco,
Justin Delawder, and
Chris Harrison all recorded singles wins to propel the Bluejays (4-9, 2-1 CCIW) over the Big Blue (13-5, 2-3 CCIW).

Millikin came out of the gates strong with wins at the bottom two double spots. Elmhurst's No. 3 tandem of Abbuhl and Franco fell 8-4, while
Kyle Endicott and Delawder dropped an 8-3 decision at No. 2. The pairing of Harrison and Jennings earned a key point for the Bluejays by taking No. 1 doubles 8-4.

Jennings quickly evened the match by blanking Emerick Fulton 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Millikin retook the lead when Jacob Hamilton finished off Endicott 6-2, 6-0.

Abbuhl evened the score at three with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Connor Sacks at No. 4 and Franco put Elmhurst on the brink just a few minutes later by taking out Greg Schwoeppe 6-2, 7-5.

The final two matches went to three sets with Delawder providing the clinching point. Leading 6-3, 7-5, 4-0 (30-30) Delawder had to take a medical timeout due to cramping. The Elmhurst senior recovered and battled through to take the final two games and seal the Bluejay victory.

Battling late in the second, Harrison and Emilo Tejada split sets as the match was decided. Harrison fell in the first set 6-2, but fought back to take the second 7-6 and won the decisive 10-point tiebreaker 10-5.

The Bluejays take a break from CCIW play to face Aurora University at home this Wednesday, April 20 at 3:30 p.m.
