Box ScoreELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team moved to 1-1 in the CCIW with a 9-0 victory over Illinois Wesleyan.
The Bluejays only lost four total games in sweeping all three doubles matches. Elmhurst then took the six singles matches in straight sets.
Alex Abbuhl and
Ricardo Franco started things off for the Bluejays with a quick 8-0 decision over Bryce Dolan and Nico Sagastume.
Chris Harrison and
Quinn Jennings added the second point of the day for Elmhurst 8-3 at No. 1 before
Kyle Endicott and
Justin Delawder finished off the sweep with an 8-1 victory at No. 2.
Elmhurst registered two quick singles victories to clinch its first CCIW victory of the season. Franco put the Bluejays on the brink with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 5 and Jennings clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2. Delawder (6-1, 6-3 over Dolan) at No. 6 and Abbuhl 6-2, 6-2 (over Caylen Crim at No. 3) were not far behind with their victories.
Endicott wrapped up his No. 4 match 6-1, 6-3 over John Cordan before Harrison clinched the first 9-0 victory of the season for the Bluejays with a 6-3, 7-6(6) win at the top spot.
Elmhurst faces another CCIW foe, Millikin, Sunday, April 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brune Tennis Courts.
