Quinn Jennings picked up a singles victory, while
Alex Abbuhl and
Ricardo Franco combined for a win at No. 3 doubles in Elmhurst's 7-2 loss to UW-Eau Claire in Racine, Wis.
In doubles play, UW-Eau Claire (10-2) built a 2-0 lead with wins at the top two doubles spots. Will Weyenberg and Jordon Stevens started things off with an 8-1 win at No. 2 over
Kyle Endicott and
Justin Delawder. At No. 1, the Blugold combination of Kyle Hoffmann and Michael Mauthe took out
Chris Harrison and Jennings 8-3. Elmhurst (2-4) scored its first point of the match at No. 3 doubles when Abbuhl and Franco defeated August Badura and Jacob Toffler 9-7.Â
Jennings, now 5-1 in his spring season, posted the final point for the Bluejays, coming out victorious over Mauthe 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Two Bluejays also pushed their matches to three-sets as Harrison fell 6-3, 3-6, 10-3 to Hoffmann and Abbuhl dropped a tight 6-2, 4-6, 11-9 decision to Weyenberg.Â
The Blugolds swept through the remaining three singles matches in straight sets. Daniel Schoen beat Endicott 6-4, 6-2, while Bernardo Prado took his No. 6 match over Franco 6-0, 6-4 and Badura defeated Delawder 6-1, 6-1.Â
The Bluejays will take a couple of weeks off before kick off their spring break trip to Orlando, Fla. with a 2:00 p.m. match against St. John's University (Minn.) on March 22.Â
