WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Elmhurst men's tennis team slipped to 8-9 on the season following an 8-1 loss to #25 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Whitewater (21-7) swept all three doubles matches to open play. The Warhawks duo of Jake Humphreys and Cam Laktash downed
Chris Harrison and
Luke Tanaka 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Michael Schnarr and Rajskehar Raman toppled
Matt Kulma and
Ricardo Franco 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. The Warhawks' team of Scott Butler and Martin Beck closed double play with an 8-4 victory over Elmhurst'sÂ
Quinn Jennings and
Alex Abbuhl at No. 3 doubles.

The Warhawks took five of the six singles contests, with Elmhurst's only point of the day coming at No. 3 singles. Raman downed Harrison 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Zane Navratil followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Tanaka at No. 2. Jennings accounted for Elmhurst's only point of the day with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Laktash at No. 3 singles. Schnarr upended Kulma 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles while Bisbee toppled Franco 7-6, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. Matt Zurowski closed singles play with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Riquelme at No. 6 singles.

Elmhurst will face Illinois Wesleyan on Thursday, April 30 in the first round of the CCIW Championships in Kenosha, Wis. Elmhurst's match is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start time.Â
