ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team upped its record to 5-3 on the season by edging Hope College 5-4 at Courts Plus.
Hope (2-9) won two of the three doubles matches, but the Bluejays took home four of the six singles contests to take home the victory.
Elmhurst's duo of 
Luke Tanaka and 
Chris Harrison toppled Matthew Culver and Sam Kreps 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Hope came back with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Cody Herbruck and Colin McKey toppled 
Matt Kulma and 
Ricardo Franco 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. Sam Schuster and Chris O'Keefe downed Elmhurst's 
Quinn Jennings and 
Alex Abbuhl 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Elmhurst took over in singles play as Tanaka breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 win over McKey at No. 2 singles. Jennings stopped Culver 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles and Abbuhl upended Camden Ludlow 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Kulma scored a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Schuster at No. 5 singles to account for the Bluejays' final point.
Herbruck and Kreps scored a pair of three-set victories for the Flying Dutch in singles play. Herbruck downed Harrison 7-6, 2-6, 10-7 at No. 1 singles and Kreps toppled Franco 6-2, 4-6, 10-7 at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst travels to Millikin University on Saturday, April 4.
