BURR RIDGE, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team posted a 1-1 record on the day after splitting contests with Wabash and Lake Forest. The Bluejays fell 7-2 to Wabash but bounced back to topple Lake Forest 6-3.
Elmhurst moved to 1-2 on the season with split record.Â
WABASH 7, ELMHURST 2 - Wabash (4-2) swept the three doubles matches and took four of the six singles contests en route to the victory.Â

Quinn JenningsDaniel Delgao and William Reifeis stopped Elmhurst's
Luke Tanaka and
Chris Harrison 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Michael Makio and Mark Toriano defeated the Bluejays' duo of Matt Kulma and
Ricardo Franco 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. Graham McMullen and Mazin Hakim finished the sweep at No. 3 doubles with an 8-6 win over Elmhurst's
Quinn Jennings and
Alex Abbuhl.
In singles play, Delgado edged Tanaka 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles while Makio downed Harris 6-5, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Jennings scored Elmhurst its first point at No 3 singles with a come-from-behind, three-set win (6-7, 6-4, 10-5) win over Toriano. Reifeis edged Abbuhl in three sets (4-6, 6-3, 10-8) at No. 4 singles while McMullen stopped Kulma 7-5, 6-4 at No. 5 singles. Franco scored the Bluejays' second point at No. 6 singles, recording a 6-2, 6-7, 10-7 win over Kirill Ivaschenko.Â
ELMHURST 7, LAKE FOREST 2 - Elmhurst registered its first victory of the young season with a 6-3 win. The Bluejays took two of the three doubles contests and won four of the six singles competitions.Â
Dan Pivonka and Ellis Lora-Arceo edged Tanaka and Harrison 8-6 at No. 1 doubles but the Bluejays scored wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Kulma and Franco downed Mike Riley and John Snider 8-5 at No. 2 doubles while Jennings and Abbuhl stopped Dragan Trivanovic and Nick Rehm 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.Â
In singles play Lake Forest scored bookend wins at No.1 and No.6 singles but the Bluejays won singles 2-5. Pivonka scored a 6-3, 6-4 win over Tanaka at No. 1 singles and Rehm edged Franco in three sets (6-4, 1-6, 11-9) at No. 6 singles to account for Lake Forest's singles victories.
Harris made short work of Riley at No. 2 singles, scoring a 6-1, 6-1 win. Jennings downed Lora-Arceo 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles and Abbuhl downed Snider 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Kulma registered the final win for Elmhurst with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Trivanovic at No. 5 singles.Â
Elmhurst travels to Millikin University on February 28.Â
