ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team closed out its regular season with a 9-0 shutout win over Dominican University.
Elmhurst, ranked 15th in the latest ITA Central Region poll rolled over Dominican (3-11), winning all six singles matches and all three doubles matches while dropping only four combined games in seven matches.
In doubles action,
Luke Tanaka and
Chris Harrison combined to defeat Alex Dee and Krystian Drozdz 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Quinn Jennings and
Matthew Kulma followed with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles over the Stars' Chandler Allen and Quinn Porter. Elmhurst's
Vincent McPherson and
Anthony Condie scored a win by default at No. 3 singles.
In singles play, Tanaka dispatched Porter 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles while Jennings took down Drozdz 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Harrison blanked Dee 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Kulma scored a 6-0, 6-1 win over Allen at No. 4 singles. Condie picked up a win at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Will Foley.
Will Jung received a win by default at No. 6 singles for the Bluejays.
Elmhurst has clinched the No. 1 seed at the upcoming CCIW Tournament. The Bluejays earned a bye into the semifinals on Friday, May 2. Elmhurst will face the winner of Augustana and North Central at 10:00 a.m. at the Brune Tennis Courts.
