NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team remained undefeated in CCIW play by upending North Central College 8-1.
Elmhurst (11-3, 4-0 CCIW), ranked 15th in the latest ITA Central Regional rankings swept the six singles matches and took two-out-of-three doubles contests to score the seven-point victory.
Will Jung and
Alex Harbert combined to stop Rustam Saini and Josh Rodig 8-6 at No. 1 doubles. North Central's Mason Sass and Connor Sass scored the Cardinals' only point of the match with an 8-2 victory over
Vincent McPherson and
Chris Harrison at No. 2 doubles. The Bluejays tandem of
Luke Tanaka and
Quinn Jennings stopped Jesse Adamson and Aleksandar Vasic 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles competition, Jung rallied from a set down to defeat Saini 3-6, 6-1, 10-5 at No. 1 singles. Harbert did not drop a game while shutting out Rodig 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. McPherson followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Oliver Moews at No. 3 singles while Tanaka defeated Mason Sass 6-0, 7-5 at No. 4 singles. Jennings dispatched Adamson 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Harrison downed Connor Sass 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst travels to Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday, April 12.
