ORLANDO, Fla. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team won its seventh straight contest by shutting out Calvin College 9-0.
Elmhurst upped its record to 8-1 on the season with the win.
The Bluejays swept all six singles contests after winning the three doubles contests to open play.
Will Jung and
Alex Harbert combined to defeat Loukas Peterson and Taylor Asfour 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Vincent McPherson and
Chris Harrison dispatched Matt Buesing and John Strikwerda 8-3 at No. 2 doubles. The Bluejays duo of David Devaney and
Luke Tanaka finished doubles play with an 8-5 win over Stephen Healy and Tom Griffin at No. 3 doubles.
The Bluejays made short work of the Knights in singles competition by not dropping a set to Calvin. Harbert rolled past Peterson 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while Jung downed Griffin 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. McPherson handed Buesing a 6-3, 6-1 loss at No. 3 singles while Tanaka toppled Strikwerda 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
Quinn Jennings toppled Healy 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 singles and Harrison closed out singles competition with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Anthony Vroon at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst takes on Luther College on Wednesday, March 26.
