Bluejays Roll Past Illinois Wesleyan For Sixth Straight

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team scored its sixth consecutive victory by upending Illinois Wesleyan University 8-1 at Courts Plus.

Elmhurst upped its record to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the CCIW with the win. The Bluejays took two of three doubles matches and swept all six singles contests en route to the seven-point win.

The Bluejays' duo of Luke Tanaka and David Devaney breezed to an 8-0 win over Kevin Piotrowski and Kyle Hyland at No. 3 doubles. Elmhurst's Vince McPherson and Chris Harrison edged Arron Gunther and Calen Crimm 9-7 at No. 2 doubles. Illinois Weslyan's George Alex and Martijn van Dooren edged Elmhurst's Alex Harbert and Will Jung via a tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles, scoring a 9-8 win.

The Bluejays dominated in singles play as Harrison made short work of Hyland at No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win. Tanaka followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles while Jung clinched the win for the Bluejays with a 6-0, 6-1 win ver van Dooren at No. 2 singles. Harbert dispatched Alex 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Quinn Jennings toppled Crim 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 singles. McPherson rallied from a set down to close out the sweep in singles play with a 6-7, 6-2, 10-8 win over Gunther a No. 3 singles.

Elmhurst travels to Orlando for three matches on March 24-27.
