Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - Kristie Waugh tucked home a rebound off of her own shot to lift the Elmhurst women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Benedictine University.
Elmhurst outshot Benedictine 12-1 in the opening half, but couldn't grab the lead.
Shannon Pimmel had Elmhurst's best chance in the closing minute of the half as her shot kissed off the cross bar.
The game remained scoreless until the 72nd minute when Waugh netted her team-leading fourth goal of the season. Waugh's shot from inside the box was deflected off a Benedictine defender. She grabbed the rebound and fired the ball into the lower right corner of the net to put the Bluejays on top 1-0.
Elmhurst outshot Benedictine 24-4 in the contest and enjoyed a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.
Emily Gordon recorded her third consecutive shutout in goal by stopping the only two shots she faced. Benedictine keeper Abby Gary stopped 12 shots in net for the Eagles.
Elmhurst hosts Westminster College (Mo.) on Friday, September 20.
