BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis moved to 2-0 in the CCIW by blanking Illinois Wesleyan University 9-0.
Elmhurst swept the three doubles matches and then won all six singles contests en route to the shutout victory.
In doubles action, Elmhurst's duo of
Alex Harbert and
Will Jung stopped Brian Sorich and Nick Kenaga 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.
Luke Tanaka and
Chris Harrison toppled Aaron Guenther and George Alex 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles,
Kevin Noble and
Vincent McPherson rolled over Kevin Piotrowski and Ashwin Radhakrishnan 8-1.
In singles competition, Harbert toppled Sorich 6-4, 7-6 at No. 1 singles while Jung scored a 6-2, 2-6, 10-7 win over Kenaga at No. 2 singles. McPherson blanked Alex 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles while Tanaka stopped Guenther 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
Quinn Jennings handed Piotrowski a 6-1, 6-2 loss at No. 5 singles. Harrison capped singles competition by shutting out Genyl Ruffino at No. 5 singles.
The Bluejays improved to 8-7 overall and 2-0 in league play while Illinois Wesleyan fell to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in the CCIW.
Elmhurst hosts Carthage College on April 17.
