Men's Tennis Team Wins Pair

The Elmhurst men's tennis team upped its record to 2-1 by defeating Wabash College and Lake Forest College at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.

Elmhurst opened the day with a 6-3 win over Wabash before blanking Lake Forest College 9-0 in the night cap.

ELMHURST 6, WABASH 3 - The Bluejays won two doubles matches and four singles' contests en route to 6-3 win over the Little Giants.

Elmhurst's No. 1 doubles team of Alex Harbert and Will Jung defeated Daniel Delgado and Mark Troiano 8-6. Luke Tanaka and Chris Harrison combined at No. 2 doubles to down Wade Miller and Nate Koelper 8-5. Wabash scored a point at No. 3 doubles when Ian Leonard and Phil Kubisz tipped the Bluejays' duo of Vincent McPherson and Quinn Jennings 9-7.

In singles play, Harbert made short work of Miller at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win. Delgado upended Jung 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, but McPherson defeated Koelper 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 at No. 3 singles. Troiano edged Tanaka in three set (6-2, 5-7, 10-8) at No. 4 singles for Wabash's final point. Jennings downed Leonard 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 singles while Harrison closed singles play with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Kubisz at No. 6 singles.

ELMHURST 9, LAKE FOREST 0 - Elmhurst cruised to the 9-0 win over Lake Forest by sweeping all six singles contests and the three doubles matches.

Harbert and Jung edged John Adams and Mike Riley 9-8 a No. 1 doubles while Tanaka and Harrison defeated Kevin Lasky and Jerry Wang 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. McPherson and Jennings closed doubles play with an 8-3 win over Jordan Stoler and Anthony Mykhaylovskyy at No. 3 doubles.

In singles competition, Harbert defeated Adam 6-2, 6-4 at No.1 singles while Jung followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Riley at No. 2 singles. McPherson toppled Mykhaylovsky 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles while Tanaka shut out Lasky 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Jennings defeated Wang (6-1, 6-4) at No. 5 singles and Harrison cruised past Stoler (6-1, 6-0) at No. 6 singles.
