Box Score NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst volleyball team won its 10th straight contest and remained perfect in CCIW play by cruising past North Park in three sets.
Elmhurst, ranked ninth in the latest AVCA Division III national poll, upped its record to 18-4 overall and 5-0 in league play with a 25-12, 25-12, 25-13 win over the Vikings. Elmhurst's win coupled with Carthage's four-set win over North Central gave the Bluejays sole possession of first place in the CCIW with just two matches remaining.
Leading just 9-7 in the opening set, the Bluejays outscored North Park 16-5 for the remainder of the set to take a 1-0 lead. The Bluejays raced out to a 10-1 lead in the second set and never looked back to go up 2-0. Trailing 7-6 early in the third set, Elmhurst outscored North Park to 19-6 for the remainder of the set to seal the victory.
Megan Reynolds led Elmhurst's offense in the win, totaling a team-hgh 12 kills and three blocks.
Sam Szarmach added eight kills, seven digs and a pair of aces while Antonéya Veasy Smith chipped in with six kills and three blocks.
Marci Novak totaled eight digs while
Erin Thill finished with 18 assists, seven digs and three kills.
Elmhurst travels to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater tomorrow night.
