RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Valerie Wesley scored in the 10th minute to propel the Elmhurst College women's soccer team to a 1-0 shutout victory over Dominican University in both teams' season-opening contest.

Wesley scored off of a feed from Heather De Moss just 9:47 into the game to stake Elmhurst to a 1-0 advantage. Wesley's goal stood up for the remainder of the game as both teams combined for only 11 shots.

The Blueajys' defense allowed Dominican only five shots for the entire contests. The Stars managed just two shots in the game's final 45 minutes.

Making her first collegiate start, Maddie Fitzpatrick netted the shutout in goal for the Bluejays. The freshman goalkeeper stopped all three shots she faced. Megan Schulz took the loss in goal for Dominican, surrendering just one goal while making three saves.

Elmhurst hosts Kalamazoo College on Sunday, September 4, at Langhorst Field.
