ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's tennis team evened its record at 10-10 on the season by defeating the College of DuPage 8-1 at the Brune Tennis Courts.
Elmhurst swept all six singles contests and won two-out-of-three doubles matches to earn the seven-point victory.
Alex Harbert downed Henry Kruchko 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles while
Will Jung blanked Jordan Broadway 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
Vincent McPherson earned a win by injury default at No. 3 singles and
Justin Guenther edged Ian Kamphuis 6-4, 7-6 at No. 4 singles.
Jim White added a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Justin Mazekis at No. 5 singles.
Dean Leventis closed out singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Neal Zeleznak at No. 6 singles.
In doubles play, the Bluejays scored wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Jung and Mcpherson teamed to defeat Kruchko and Broadway 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Peter Ralph and Ian Kamphuis scored COD's only win of the day, an 8-3 win over White and
Eric Moss at No. doubles. Harbert and Leventis combined to dispatch Mazekis and Zeleznak 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Elmhurst competes at the CCIW Championship on Friday, May 5.
