Men's Tennis Team Toppled By North Central

ELMHURST, Ill.
- The Elmhurst College men's tennis team slipped to 9-9 overall and 1-3 in the CCIW after falling to North Central College 6-3 at the Brune Tennis Courts.

North Central (8-9, 3-1 CCIW) scored the three-point win by taking five of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches.

North Central's Sam Sweeney toppled Alex Harbert 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. The Cardinals' Matt Boguslawski defeated Will Jung 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. David Devaney scored a point for the Bluejays at No. 3 singles by upending North Central's Chris Bennorth 6-1, 6-3.. Vincent McPherson added a 6-1, 6-3 win over NCC's Eric McKee at No. 4 singles. The Cardinals closed singles play with wins by Boris Kampel (6-0, 6-2 over Jim White at No. 5 singles) and Josh Clay (3-6, 7-6, 10-8 over Justin Guenther at No. 6 singles).

In doubles play, North Central's duo of Sweeney and Boguslawski defeated Jung and McPherson 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. The Bluejays' duo of Devaney and Harbert toppled Kampel and Eric Mutka 9-7 at No. 2 doubles. McKee and Josh Clay defeated White and Eric Moss 8-2 at No. 3 doubles to account for the Cardinals' final point.

Elmhurst hosts the University of St. Francis on Tuesday, April 26.
