ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's tennis team won its second consecutive match and improved to 9-7 overall by blanking Concordia University-Chicago 9-0.
Elmhurst swept all six singles matches and the three doubles matches en route to the shutout victory.
Alex Harbert defeated Concordia's Jeff Smith 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles while
David Devaney followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Nathan Wingfield at No. 2 singles. Elmhurst's
Justin Guenther dispatched Alex Tarullo 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and
Dean Leventis added a 6-0, 6-1 win over Van Thien at No. 4 singles. the Bluejays'
Eric Moss shutout John Gehm 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
Henrique Boscolo closed out singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Vince Termini at No. 6 singles.
Harbert and
Vincent McPherson teamed to defeat Van Thien and Wingfield 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Eric Moss and
Jim White downed Smith and Tarullo 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Will Jung and Boscolo closed out doubles play with a 9-7 victory over Tim Staffeld and Gehm at No. 3 singles.
Elmhurst will host Carthage College on Saturday, April 16, at 5:30 p.m. Due to the forecast of rain, the match has been moved indoors to Courts Plus.
