HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Elmhurst College men's tennis team dropped to 6-4 overall after falling to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 8-1 at Hilton Head, S.C.
Elmhurst scored its only point of the match at No. 3 singles when
David Devaney toppled UW-Eau Claire's Eric Wollum 6-2, 6-3.
UW-Eau Claire's Chris Kuna downed
Alex Harbert 7-6, 3-6, 10-7 at No.1 singles and Lars Olson followed with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Elmhurst's
Will Jung at No.2 singles. Elmhurst's
Vincent McPherson fell 6-2, 6-3 to Marco Florent at No. 4 singles. UW-Eau Claire's Ben Robertson (7-6, 6-3 win over
Jim White at No. 5 singles) and Ryan Vande Linde (7-5, 7-5 over
Justin Guenther at No. 6 singles) added singles victories for the Bluegolds.
In doubles play, UW-Eau Claire's tandem of Kuna and Olson toppled Devaney and Jung 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Wollum and Dirk Van Rybroek defeated McPherson and Harbert 8-2 at No.2 doubles. Florent and Vande Linde added an 8-5 win over White and
Eric Moss at No.3 doubles.
Elmhurst faces Centre College on Monday, March 21.
