AVCA Poll
ELMHURST, Ill - Riding a 12-match winning streak, the Elmhurst College volleyball team has climbed two spots in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association national poll to 17th place.
The Bluejays were ranked 19th in last week's poll but jumped two spots after a perfect 4-0 record last weekend, including a 3-1 win over 16th-ranked University of Chicago.
Defending national champion Calvin College remains a unanimous pick for the top spot in the poll while Emory University is slotted second. Washington University (Mo.), Eastern University, and Heidelberg University round out the top-five.
Wittenberg University, Southwestern University (Texas), Christopher Newport University, Concordia College (Minn.), Carthage College, St. Thomas University, Juniata College, Colorado College, Hope College, and California Lutheran University round complete spots six through 15.
The University of Chicago remained in 16th place, just 26 points in front of Elmhurst. The University of Massachusetts-Boston is ranked 18th while SUNY-Cortland is 19th. Springfield College is ranked 20th.
UW-Whitewater, Pacific Lutheran, Puget Sound, Whitworth, and Bowdoin round out the top-25.
Elmhurst (25-4) takes on Benedictine University and Edgewood College this weekend.
