BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's tennis team fell to 7-14 overall after falling to Augustana College in the opening round of the CCIW Championship. 

Augustana scored a 6-0 win over the Bluejays. The Vikings won all three doubles matches and three singles contests. The remaining three singles contests went unfinished after the match winner had been determined.

In doubles action, Augustana's Chris Mullin and Adam DeSimone scored a 9-8 win over Elmhurst's Dave Douglass and Jim White at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, the Vikings' Kyle Doyle and Nik Lehnert toppled the Bluejays' David Devaney and Dean Leventis 8-3. Augustana's Geoff Schoon and Jack Cullen knocked off Justin Guenther and Eric Moss 8-6 at No. 3 doubles. 

In singles play Lehnert defeated Douglass 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles while Mullin toppled Leventis 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Cullen added a 6-0 ,6-4 victory at No. 5 singles. The matches at No. 1, No. 4, and No. 6 singles went unfinished. 

Elmhurst will face Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday, May 8, in the fifth-place match at 8:30 a.m.
