Elmhurst Tennis Team Suffers Pair of Losses

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Elmhurst College men's tennis team fell to 7-13 on the season after suffering a pair of 9-0 loss. The Bluejays were blanked 9-0 by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and then suffered a 9-0 loss to Luther College.

UW-Eau Claire 9, Elmhurst 0 - UW-Eau Claire (24-5) scored a 9-0 win over the Bluejays by sweeping all six singles matches and all three doubles contests. 

In singles play, Chris Kuna toppled Elmhurst's Dave Douglass 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Phil Loprinzi added a 6-2, 6-2 win over Elmhurst's Dean Leventis at No. 2 singles. Kevin Fawcett followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Justin Guenther at No. 3 singles while Lars Olson defeated Jim White 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Eric Wollum (6-1, 6-1 win over Eric Moss) and Marco Florent (6-1, 6-2 win over Henrique Boscolo) added wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. 

In doubles action, Loprinzi and Kuna combined for an 8-4 win over Douglass and White at No. 1 doubles. Fawcett and Olson defeated Moss and Leventis 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. Wollum and Dirk Van Rybroek finished doubles play with an 8-2 win over Guenther and Boscolo at No. 3 doubles. 

LUTHER 9, ELMHURST 0 - Luther swept all nine matches en route to the shutout win over Elmhurst.

In singles competition, Scott Sundstrom blanked Douglass 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles while Harrison Whiteley followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Leventis at No. 2 singles. Utsab Rijal defeated Guenther 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles while Nicholas Mozena defeated White 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. Max Piepkorn defeated Moss 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 singles while Samriddh Burman defeated Boscolo 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.

In doubles play, Aaron Gendron and Mark Mateski downed White and Douglass 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. at No. doubles, Scott Martin and Piepkorn downed Leventis and Moss 8-2 while Mozena and Burman scored an 8-3 victory over Guenther and Boscolo at No. 3 doubles.
