RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's tennis team upped its record to 4-5 overall by knocking off Concordia University-Chicago 8-1.
The Bluejays swept all six singles contests and took two of the three doubles matches.
Dave Douglass downed Jeff Smith 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles while
David Devaney defeated Thien Van 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
Dean Leventis beat Alex Tarullo 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles while
Justin Guenther scored a 6-1, 6-3 win over Tim Staffeld at No. 4 singes.
Jim White (6-3, 6-0 over Josh Wingfield) and
Eric Moss (6-1, 6-2 over John Gehm) scored wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
In doubles play, Douglass and Devaney teamed to defeat Smith and Van 8-5 at No. 1 doubles. The tandem of Leventis and Moss blanked Tarullo and Wingfield 8-0 at No. doubles. Concordia scored its only point of the match at No. 3 doubles when Staffeld and Gehm downed Guenther and White 8-6.
