ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's tennis team opened the 2010 season by dropping a 5-4 decision to Carroll University at Courts Plus.

The two teams split the six singles matches, but Carroll won the contest by taking two of the three doubles matches.

David Devaney scored the Bluejays a 7-5, 6-2 win over Carroll's Kevin Rasmussen at No. 2 singles. Dean Leventis added a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Matt Joost at No. 3 singles. Justin Guenther scored the Bluejays a win at No. 6 singles by defeating Frankie Giuffre 6-0, 6-2. 

The doubles team of Dave Douglass and Devaney scored a 9-7 win over Carroll's Seth Pamperin and Joost. 

The Bluejays play at the Wabash Invitational on February 20.
